Mission Statement of St. Joseph Catholic School:

The St. Joseph Catholic School Community educates our students by nurturing the whole child--physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually, so that they will develop a life-long love for learning and become responsible Christian members of our society.

Vision Statement of St. Joseph Catholic School:

The St. Joseph Catholic School Community aspires to create a Christian family atmosphere where a firm foundation of morals will lead to academically-sound, well-rounded students.  The combined efforts of the School and Parish communities will focus on the 3 Rs--religion, respect, responsibility--to create a place where faculty and students will be proud to work together.

St. Joseph Catholic School was established in 1873.  The original school building was built in 1924, and an addition was added in 1958.  Our children range from preschool through fifth grade.

Being located at 127 East Broadway, St. Joseph Catholic School is within walking distance of downtown Shelbyville.  St. Joseph Catholic School is the sole Catholic school within Shelby County, drawing its students primarily from within Shelbyville and the Shelbyville Central School System.

We integrate Gospel values and life skills within the academic program.  This makes our school unique in that it is a place where learning occurs in a loving, caring, God-centered environment.

Children leaving St. Joseph at the end of the fifth grade have a life-long love for learning and become responsible Christian members of our Church and society.

Important Elements of St. Joseph Catholic School

Our comprehensive program for academic excellence contains the following essential elements.

Quality Education

Our teachers are dedicated to inspire students to learn through hands-on experiences.

Christian-Centered Environment

We promote a love of God through prayer, worship, and religious education to help build a foundation for faith.

Educational Continuity

St. Joseph Catholic School offers preschool through grade five, providing a complete childhood development program that ensures that your child will learn to be a well-rounded citizen with a strong moral foundation for life.

Discipline

Our discipline focuses on responsibility, self-control, and respect for self and others in our school and community.

Safety and Security

Your child is safe.  We provide security by controlling access, educating parents and children about safety, and encouraging social awareness.

Parental Involvement

We actively promote parental involvement through the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).  It is essential in building a child's educational development and self-esteem.

Uniform Dress Code

Since the establishment of our uniform dress code, we have lessened competition among students and strengthened unity among our students.

Being Results-Oriented

St. Joseph Catholic School consistently outscores other area schools in I-STEP scores, maintaining high standards and encouraging academic excellence through a strong work ethnic for life-long achievement.

After school Care

Our After school Care Program offers extended hours until 6:00pm for our parents' convenience and safety of children.

For more information regarding enrollment and tuition, call the School to set an appointment.  (317)398-4202 or contact our principal, Joan Livingston.
