The St.
Joseph Catholic School Community aspires to create a Christian
family atmosphere where a firm foundation of morals will lead
to academically-sound, well-rounded students. The
combined efforts of the School and Parish communities will
focus on the 3 Rs--religion, respect, responsibility--to
create a place where faculty and students will be proud to
work together.
St. Joseph
Catholic School was established in 1873. The original
school building was built in 1924, and an addition was added
in 1958. Our children range from preschool through fifth
grade.
Being located at
127 East Broadway, St. Joseph Catholic School is within
walking distance of downtown Shelbyville. St. Joseph
Catholic School is the sole Catholic school within Shelby
County, drawing its students primarily from within Shelbyville
and the Shelbyville Central School System.
We integrate
Gospel values and life skills within the academic program.
This makes our school unique in that it is a place where
learning occurs in a loving, caring, God-centered environment.
Children leaving
St. Joseph at the end of the fifth grade have a life-long love
for learning and become responsible Christian members of our
Church and society.
Important
Elements of St. Joseph Catholic School
Our comprehensive
program for academic excellence contains the following

religious education to help build a foundation for faith.
Educational
