St. Joseph Disaster Preparedness & Response Team works with Catholic Charities Disaster Preparedness and Response to help the parish, every parish family, and the community be prepared for the event of disaster. We prepare to respond to physical, spiritual, and emotional, immediate and long term needs following natural and man-made disasters, helping to bring God’s comfort, healing and renewal to those affected by disasters through our works and through our prayers and compassion.
On these pages, you will find information to help you and your family prepare for various types of disaster. While it is true that no one can ever be totally prepared, these basics, known as all-hazard preparedness, will give you a head start when disasters of any nature come.
In the event of an actual disaster, these pages will give you information about where to get help and about how you can help.
Please check these pages often now, when it is calm, to prepare your family and your home. Email or call us to ask questions, let us know about your concerns and what you would like to see published here. Members of the team will do our best to help you with any issues you may have.
Let us know if you or someone you know are elderly or disabled and will need special help in the event of a disaster. Knowing before a disaster strikes will help us to help you.
When disaster strikes, come back to these pages as soon as you can. Here you will find information on how to get the help you need including immediate needs such as food, water, shelter, medical supplies, sanitary and hygiene supplies; how to apply to government agencies such as FEMA and SBA; how to get help to repair or rebuild your home and replace your personal property.
Our goal is to be here for you now – to help you prepare – to help you survive, and after – to help you get your lives back to normal as soon as possible.
When all of the dust has settled and the headlines have gone on to other stories, we will be here to help.
